Nothing escapes your server.

Fos is a place to talk, stream and play with your friends that runs on a machine you own. No company in the middle, no account with us, no bill. Ever.

Philosophy

Three promises, none with an asterisk.

$0

Forever free

No subscription, no tiers, no boost. 1080p at 60 frames and 1440p are just settings, not something you unlock by paying.

Zero data

There is no Fos cloud to send anything to. Your client talks to the server you picked, and every packet on the way is encrypted, headers included.

Self hosted

One server program, one UDP port, on hardware you control. Even client updates come from your own server, not from ours.

What's inside

Everything you opened the other app for.

  • VoiceOpus audio with echo cancellation, noise suppression, voice detection and a noise gate you can tune.
  • Screen shareFrom 720p30 up to 1080p60 and 1440p30, hardware encoded in H.265 or H.264, with the sound of your desktop.
  • Camera720p at 30 frames next to a screen share or on its own.
  • Shared controllersHand your gamepad to the friend who is streaming and play their game from your couch.
  • ChatRooms, files and 700 emotes that ship with the client, so it never has to ask anyone for them.
  • EncryptionAn X25519 key exchange, then AES-256-GCM or ChaCha20-Poly1305 over every packet.
Self host

Your gravity well, your rules.

Start the endpoint on anything that stays on: a spare PC, a home server, a cheap VPS. Point your friends' clients at it. That is the whole infrastructure.
